VMware Tools for Nested ESXi updated to v1.2

08.20.2015 by William Lam // 10 Comments

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that we have a minor update to the VMware Tools for Nested ESXi Fling (esx-tools-for-esxi-9.7.2-0.0.5911061.i386.vib) and you can find the list of changes below.

What's new in version 1.2:

  • Larger resource pool for programs started using the VIX/Guest Operations API (resolves this issue)
  • Now supports Guest Time Synchronization
  • No longer require -f flag to install the VIB

If you have any feedback, feel free to leave a comment here or on the Flings page.

Thanks for sharing William. Have you installed the new VIB package yet? Tools version is now reporting as 9442 which appears older than version 9537 which ships in the VMware-VMvisor-Installer-201507001-2809209.x86_64.iso

I don't know if this is factual or not.

By the way, that's vSphere 6, not 5.x. Assuming at this point the new tools version is still for vSphere 5.x only.

        Jason,

That's correct, the updated VMware Tools for ESXi is meant for vSphere 5.x and not 6.x. Some of these fixes will make it into a future update of 6.x

You mean VMware Tools for Nested ESXi? If so, they're already included by default within ESXi image, so when it boots as a VM, it'll run by default
