On-Demand session URLs for VMware Explore US 2022

09.02.2022 by William Lam // 1 Comment

VMware Explore US has just concluded earlier this week and the VMware Explore team has been hard at work in publishing recorded sessions (those that were allowed to be recorded) into the VMware Explore On-Demand Video Library, which only requires a free VMware Explore account to watch all the amazing content from VMware employees, to partners and our community of users.

Similiar to past years, I have put together a small Github page that simply summarize all VMware Explore US 2022 breakout sessions by their Category, Session Code, Session Name, on-demand URL link and Session Speakers. This should make it very easier to search for a specific session, topic or speaker and jump straight to the VMware Explore on-demand link, which will require a VMware Explore account to view the session. There are no offline viewing options, you must login to view the content from the VMware Explore site.

As of 12pm PST, 410 out of 458 sessions have been posted online. I will check back next week and update the repo if the additional sessions recordings will be published.

You can access the repo by visiting: https://github.com/lamw/vmware-explore-2022-session-urls (short URL: https://vmwa.re/vmware-explore-2022)

Direct on-demand URLs for all VMworld 2021 Sessions

10.18.2021 by William Lam // 7 Comments

The VMworld 2021 on-demand video library is now available for anyone to watch, simply login with your free VMworld account.

I have already watched over a dozen+ session and I am finding more sessions that I need to add to my watch queue. One thing that I wish the VMworld portal provided was a simple way to view all breakout sessions in a single (non-dynamic) flat list that I could quickly get a glance at to decide which sessions I might be interested in.

Although I appreciate the enhancements that have been made to the VMworld portal over the years, I still find the "infinite scroll" results to be quite annoying and it makes it very difficult to organically discover new sessions and topics that I may not have come across.

I decided to create a quick Github page that would simply summarize all VMworld 2021 breakout sessions by their Category, Session Code, Session Name, VMworld on-demand URL link and Session Speakers. This should make it very easier to search for a specific session, topic or speaker and jump straight to the VMworld on-demand link, which will require a VMworld account to view the session. There are no offline viewing options, you must login to view the content from the VMworld site.

vCenter Event Broker Appliance Updates - VMworld, Fling, Community & Open Source

11.21.2019 by William Lam // Leave a Comment

VMworld

At VMworld Barcelona, Michael Gasch and I had the privilege of presenting our #CODE1379E "If This Then That" for vSphere - The Power of Event Driven Automation session. The room was completely packed for a 9am session on Thursday after the big VMworld Party and we just wanted to thank everyone who attended the session and for those that came up to talk to us afterwards. We really had no idea how the session would be received but from the feedback, tweets and DM's we have received and continue to receive, it looks like the session really resonated with customers. In case you missed the session or could not attend VMworld, the session was recorded and is actually available for everyone to view. You just need to sign in with a free VMworld account.

VMware Fling

For those who attended the VMworld session in person, there was a nice surprise at the very end, which I think may be a VMworld first. Michael and I have been working on a side project in our spare time called the vCenter Event Broker Appliance or VEBA for short. This solution enables customers to easily create Event Driven Automation based on vCenter Server Events and rather than just showing off some cool demos, we wanted to leave the audience with something they can actually use right now!

With a little chant that was started by Emad Younis (this was NOT planned), the audience had spoken and wanted us to publish the planned VMware Fling which we were going to release in the coming days since we had just finished the process literally the week of VMworld. I figure its VMworld, this is what customers, partners and colleagues come here for and with a click of a button and crossing my fingers, the vCenter Event Broker Appliance Fling went LIVE.
